Tagaytay City, March 27-28, 2025 - The Council of Deans and Educators of Business in Region IV-A (CODEB4A) kicked off its 20th annual conference recently at Hotel Dominique, City of Tagaytay, with the theme "Sustainably Enriching Business Education: Fostering Social Responsibility."
The two-day conference brought together esteemed educators, business leaders, and experts to share insights and best practices in integrating social responsibility into business education.
Dr. Amado L. Magsino, President Emeritus of the Council of Deans and Educators of Business in Region IV-A (CODEB4A), delivered the welcome remarks during the 20th annual conference, warmly receiving delegates and guests to the two-day gathering. In his remarks, Dr. Magsino also took the opportunity to pay tribute to the Past Presidents of CODEB4A, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the organization's growth and development. His heartfelt acknowledgement honored the legacy of leadership and dedication that has shaped CODEB4A into the esteemed institution it is today.
Dr. Rogel L. Limpiada, President of the Council of Deans and Educators of Business in Region IV-A (CODEB4A), set the tone for the conference with his inspiring opening remarks. He warmly welcomed participants and underscored the vital role of business education in fostering social responsibility. "As educators, we have a critical role in shaping the next generation of business leaders who will drive sustainable growth and development," he emphasized. In a heartfelt gesture, Dr. Limpiada also took the opportunity to extend CODEB4A’s warmest greetings to CHED Regional Director Dr. Rogelio T. Galera, Jr. on the occasion of his recent birthday celebration. With sincerity and appreciation, Dr. Limpiada read a special message honoring Dr. Galera's tireless efforts and commitment to quality education: "Your leadership and vision have been instrumental in shaping the educational landscape of Region 4A. We are honored to have you with us today, and we wish you a joyous birthday celebration filled with love, laughter, and many more years of service to our community!"
The conference featured keynote speakers, including Dr. Rogelio T. Galera, Jr., Regional Director of CHEDRO IV-A, who discussed the role of business education in promoting social responsibility.
Other highlights of the conference included two plenary sessions on the first day with Dr. Marjorie Tangog, Executive Vice President, UPHS-Dalta who talked about “Developing Ethical Leadership: The Role of Business Schools in Shaping Corporate Social Responsibility” and Mr. Danny A. Cabulay, President and CEO, Gotteswille Publishing Corporation, CPA and International Consultant elucidating on the topic “Phenomenon-Based Business Education: Developing Responsive and Resilient Filipino Executives, Professionals and Entrepreneurs.” There were also four (4) paper presentations, and an election of the new Members of the Board, for Academic Year 2025-2026. This conference as usual provides a platform for networking and collaboration among educators and business leaders.
The second day of the conference began with an opening formalities and a synthesis of the previous day's discussions, led by Dr. Santos T. Castillo, Jr., VP for Cavite, CODEB4A, and Prof. Mariflor M. Uber, VP for Rizal, CODEB4A.
The conference featured its third plenary speaker, Prof. Richard Anthony L. Cruz, Professor at the Asian Institute of Management, who discussed "Business for Good: Social Enterprises and Inclusive Business Models."
The conference, aside from the third plenary speaker for the second day also included paper presentations and poster exhibitions, showcasing research and best practices in business education. Participants engaged in open forums and discussions, exchanging ideas and insights on how to foster social responsibility in business education.
The conference concluded with the presentation of the new Board of Directors, a treasurer's report, and a president's report. Dr. Fernando T. Pendon III, Executive Vice President of CODEB4A, delivered the closing remarks.
The successful conference was made possible through the support of Presidents Vice Presidents, Deans, Program Chairs, Faculty Members of HEIs in Region 4A, 4B, I, V, VI and various sponsors and partners. CODEB4A looks forward to continuing its mission of promoting excellence in business education in Region IV-A.
